I feel like I've been neglecting you guys, so I come bearing things to hopefully put smiles on your faces. First, there are a couple tiny fics I wrote on twitter last night, one Supernatual and one Inception.

OH, magic fingers would be awesome right now. And cupcakes. (Not with insects though. That's just gross.)

I don't care much of Genevieve Cortese (Padalecki?) as an actress but damn, those pictures of her and JP are beyond adorable.

Mmm, magic fingers and cupcakes. Now that would make for a good afternoon. :D I don't know if you watch Cake Boss, but there's an ep where Buddy makes a cake out of bugs. *shudders* It was fascinating and disgusting all at the same time.

They are so cute together! It almost makes up for the fact that she was such a meh Ruby.

I can't watch US made cake tv shows. (It's the constant fondant handling that creeps me out.)

I would love to see the bug cake, though. It sounds inventive.:)


Luckily the last two minutes of Ruby made the character work and it was possible for me to forgive the mehness. (Mostly in that episode where they put Anna and Ruby on the screen together and it was *such* crap.)

It's probably on youtube somewhere. Youtube has failed me. :( There was cricket flour and Buddy refused to taste it while his assistants were sitting there eating whole crickets like candy. It was awesome.

I'm not a fan of fondant (yuck) but it's the way they act like it's play dough and not something people will eat. No proper clothes for the work, no plastic gloves, and so on.
(I know you make cakes differently there but it still looks really iffy to me.)

Traditional fondant tastes like crap, but the marshmallow based ones are pretty good. I get being squicked by people not using gloves and stuff though. =P

Not that I can see. :( It's a sad day on the internet.

ETA: Ah, and as I say that, someone on my tv is using gloves while they work their fondant. :D

Of course I do. I personally think I should do it more often and not just to use on cakes.

(And us Finns prefer whipped cream on cakes anyways.:)

Ganache is wonderful anytime, cake or not. It is a many purpose food thing. :) Personally, my dreams are haunted by the idea of wrapping balls of ganache in cookie dough and frying them, but I think that would be living up to the fat American stereotype a little too well.

(Really? I'm not a huge fan of whipped cream, but I could see that.)

I'm from the south. I live a couple hours away from where Paula Deen's from. It takes a lot more than deep fried cheese cake to phase me. ;)
