Update: AND HE'S GOING UP AGAINST IRON CHEF MR CLEAN*! *FLAILS*
*That's Iron Chef Michael Symon for those who aren't me.

Date: 2012-02-13 03:13 am (UTC)I used to go to school with someone who has, I believe, actually met the Ace of Cakes.

Jane Seymour is one of the judges. *dies of happiness*

Date: 2012-02-13 03:22 am (UTC)Yeah, she's a pastry chef or somesuch, and got to participate in some sort of cake-making competition a year or two ago where the Ace of Cakes was one of the judges. (Hm. Convenient facebook-stalking confirms that she did in fact get to meet him, because apparently her team won the competition.)
Hee, oh Jane Seymour. I just rewatched the Castle episode where she guest-starred earlier today.

She will forever be Dr. Quinn to me.

Date: 2012-02-13 03:26 am (UTC)Yeah, apparently so! It was fun to see the pictures go by afterwards. (She sometimes posts pics of the cakes she makes nowadays too, they're so pretty!)
I've never actually seen Dr. Quinn. Well, not on purpose anyway; I'm pretty sure there were a few instances when I was a kid where I was in the room while someone was watching it, but I haven't actually watched it myself.

Date: 2012-02-13 03:32 am (UTC)Up until about the middle of last year I was studying opera, so trying to have a serious go at baking as anything other than a fun hobby is still pretty new to me. This (http://coffeebuddha.livejournal.com/157724.html#cutid1) is about as fancy as I've done so far, but I do a lot of work with gluten free baking and have several recipes that I've come up with that people seem to really love.
My parents were big fans, so I grew up watching it.
LOVE your MASH icon, btw. &hearts

Yeah, I know the feeling. I grew up on the Waltons. And MASH, of course (Hawkeye was my first tv crush...) ♥

Date: 2012-02-13 03:45 am (UTC)I think I watched MASH almost every day from 5th grade until I graduated. My parents are HUGE fans. They're both former military and used to throw MASH parties back when they were in college where everyone dressed up as the characters, got drunk, and watched the new episodes.

Date: 2012-02-13 03:50 am (UTC)Yeah, I think 5th grade-ish was about when I really started getting into it too. I mean, I remember watching it with my parents when I was younger, but didn't really appreciate it until I was a bit older. Used to watch it every day when I got home from school for a while. My dad owns the entire series on DVD now (they conveniently released the seasons right before Christmas, his birthday, and Father's day every year, so us kids had an easy time figuring out what to get him for every holiday for about 4 years, it was awesome), so there would be nights when nothing decent was on tv, so we'd spend an evening and just mainline 5 or 6 episodes at once.
...And then I went and got married and moved 6 hours away from Daddy's DVD collection. XD I only own the first 3 seasons and the final episode (which is my go-to if I decide for some reason I need a good cry...), but I'm working on rebuilding the collection.
