That's right! I have awesome readers! How awesome? So awesome that because of a joking comment I made, one of them made me this!

So many thanks to the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] 1986s! I can't stress enough how much I love this picture. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to making cooing noises and petting my computer screen. ^.^

[livejournal.com profile] topetine made me a new icon.  Not only that, but she's offered to make individual Team Ethan/Team Derek icons with their pictures on them. Next time you wonder why I love her and not you, remember this and you'll have your answer. ^.^

Speaking of The Way You Lie, part three is officially up. Just in case you missed it. Took forever, but it's over a thousand words longer than either of the other parts, so maybe that'll help make up for it a little. Maybe? A teeny, tiny bit? Come on, guys, don't be that way. You know you want to read it and tell me how amazing I am.

I feel like I'm walking a very thin line with Ethan. I want him to be someone who's very loyal and protective of the select few he decides are worth it, but at the same time I want to avoid turning him into the cliched 'badass with a heart of gold'. Because 95% of the time, he is an ass who doesn't really give a shit about the people around him and will actually go out of his way to annoy/hurt them if they do something that pisses him off. On the one hand, I love writing him because he had so little screen time and I can basically write him any way I want and be right. On the other hand, he had so little screen time that I can basically write him any way I want and be right, so he's very nearly an original character, which is dangerous/scary territory in fanfiction.

In other news, it's FALL! Which means the season of eating has officially started. Hurray! I love food. I love food more than is healthy, which is why my hips are wide and my stomach is squishy. In light of the cooling weather, I decided to share a few of my favorite recipes-some old, some new-which make for perfect comfort food. These are pretty much the recipes as I have them written down-with the exception of the coconut soup, which I'll explain when I get there-but it's worth noting that I tend to use recipes more as a guide than anything else. I like to fiddle with them as I go, so the recipes below aren't exactly the same as what I'd do in my own kitchen.

Pumpkin Bread )

Apple Bread )

Coconut and Tofu Thai Soup )

Coffee Brownies )

I think that's it for today! Now off to practice for my conducting midterm. Hurray for classes I'm required to take even though I hope to never conduct a day of my professional life!

I've always considered myself more of a baker than a cooker, but late last fall I stumbled across a recipe for a stuffed pumpkin that caught my interest. Unfortunately, I didn't find it until a couple of weeks after pretty much every pumpkin had disappeared from the stores. (If you remember, there was a pumpkin shortage last year.) Still, I knew I wanted to try doing a stuffed pumpkin, so a year later here I am. Let me tell you, it is delicious. I lost the original recipe ages ago, so I ended up giving a different recipe a quick once over so I'd know about how much rice to make and how long to cook it and then just improved on the rest. A lot of the recipes I saw called for some kind of breading, but I'm back to cutting all gluten out of my diet because I think it's part of the reason I've been having such severe memory problems lately, so I kept my pumpkin completely gluten free.

Cake!

I just found possibly the most awesome cake recipe in the world here. This blog is my new obsession.

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (Microwave Safe)

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well.  Add the egg and mix thoroughly before pouring in the milk and oil in.  Keep mixing.  Add the optional chocolate chips next (who makes that an option!) and vanilla extract, and mix again…

Mmm, cake batter!

Mmm, cake batter!

Put your mug in the micro wave and cook for three minutes at 1000 watts.  The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don’t be alarmed!  Allow it to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

This is too easy!!

This is too easy!!

EAT ! (this can serve two if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

Optional Sharing Method!

OSM!! (Optional Sharing Method!)

Why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because we are all only 5 minutes away from warm, gooey, delicious chocolate cake any time, night or day.

My Ethics teacher is kind of dreamy. He talks with his hands-which are nice like whoa-and tells bad punny jokes and has these amazing dimples. Thank you, Dr. Eye Candy, for giving me motivation to go to class.
