Perfectly Imperfect

I feel like I've been saying this every time I make a post lately, but sorry for the radio silence. I've been a lovely combination of sick, depressed, and drunk the past few days, which means I went into full on hermit mode and have quite a bit of catching up as far as LJ goes.

1. My new glasses came in the mail yesterday. I still haven't decided if I love them or hate them yet, but topetine thinks there should be pics, so I camwhored for a little bit and this is probably the least shitty of the pics. (Can you tell how much I just love having my picture taken? =/ )

2. I am so fucking addicted to Chopped. It is so many things that I love. I'm not nearly so in love with Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. It's not even that I don't like the show. It's that I don't like that it's on for literally hours every day to the point where it's easy to catch the same episode multiple times within the same week or two. That shouldn't be possible, Food Network. Who the fuck is Guy blowing to get that kind of air time? Seriously? I'm genuinely curious.

3. I feel like I can't write lately. Not in a 'oh, I suck' kind of way, but in that it's physically, mentally difficult to do it. I have ideas, I just can't get them down. It's driving me completely batty. I've spent the last couple of days ripping apart this thing I was planning to post last night and now I just hate it and want to rewrite it, but that's a problem since I can't write. *headdesks* Somebody just remind me that this isn't permanent? And if it is, lie to me. :(

4. I'm a serious downer in this post. Actually, that's been happening a lot lately. Sorry, guys. I'll try to be more chipper. 

Since I'm officially down 30lbs since February and because it's freaking summer in Alabama, I decided to get a haircut to celebrate/not get sunstroke. Also, this is probably the closest I've been to my natural hair color in about four years. Oooooh yeeeeah.
Isn't it cute and kicky? I have no idea what it's going to look like once I've showered and my borderline incompetent hands have had a go at styling it, but for now it's all sorts of awesome. :D

Yes, I really am doing a post entirely about my hair. No, I don't know when I'm going to be posting fic next. Hopefully soon. Ask the gaping black hole that's sucking in all my self esteem and drive to do anything other than read porn and eat chocolate chips for a more exact estimate.

Anyway! When I woke up this morning I was all sleepy/warm/befuddled/happy, because instead of getting horrible hangovers when I drink so much that I end the night unwilling to lift my head out of my pillow to see if topetine is responding to the messages I'm blindly sending her-no typos, guys! I win at drunk messaging!-I get a brain full of bunnies and unicorn farts. Go me and my Irish/Scottish/German heritage! Anywho, my happy state lasted about as long as it took for me to get to a mirror.


"Coffeebuddha," you might gasp. "Why are you so pouty and holding your hair like you want to rip it out of your head?" Well, let me tell you, gentle reader. It's because my roots had grown out so much during the winter months while I refused to leave my house-it be cold outside, yo-that I could tell what my natural hair color is. I don't know about you guys, but I'm not interested in that. Not at all. It got worse when I actually examined my hair.

If you follow my journal, then you know I've been having a rough time lately with some family issues. There are also a lot of other things going on that have been making my life feel like a living hell lately and I'm not ashamed to admit that hearing nice things about myself would make me feel a lot better. So, I decided to do a meme that I saw allira_dream post on the off chance that anyone would want to take the time to share their thoughts. Please don't feel obligated just because I'm being all mopey and emo, but I'd really love to hear from you if you like my stuff.

A FANFICTION PRAISE MEME

Four day weekend! *flails happily*

It feels almost like a cheat since this was the first week of classes for the semester, but I'm not going to complain. Well, not about that.

I started a new fic venture a couple days ago and have been harassing topetine with emails ever since. It was supposed to be a short AU piece for a cowboy request over on the last kink meme, but it very rapidly grew and mutated into a whole big story with an actual plot and a supporting cast of fucking everyone. (Does that make it sound like everyone's fucking? Eh, I don't even care anymore.) It's a lot of fun, especially with all the research I'm digging into to make my cliched old west town as authentic as possible-hard to do since the cliched old west was pretty much one big myth-but I'm still feeling nervous about it. I don't really do multichapter stories. I've tried to in the past, but my short attention span has always interfered. Still, I'll never be able to write an epically long fanfic if I never try, so why not give it a shot?
