Jim's almost completely certain that kissing Bones would be a bad idea. His southern temper withstanding, he isn't a violent man, but Jim would probably walk away with something bleeding, bruised, or broken. Which would be a problem, since Bones usually isn't exactly in the mood to patch him back up when he's the one who hit him. Oh, he'd do it-he's a doctor, as he's so fond of pointing out-but he'd probably make the treatment more uncomfortable than necessary. Just to teach Jim a lesson.

Jim's almost completely certain that kissing Bones would be a bad idea. He could go to Chapel, but she'd inevitably side with Bones and spend the entire time lecturing him.
She always does.
So, he shouldn't kiss Bones. He should just suck it up, resist temptation, and maybe track down a cute ensign, which is against regulations, but still smarter than going after his best friend.
Bones bows his head over the PADD he's reading, his dark hair falling into his eyes and his neck one long line of temptation.
Screw it, Jim decides as he moves to close the distance between them. He's never exactly been great at picking the good, smart choices anyway.
