It was just a passing comment. There had been nothing fishing or suggestive about it. They hadn't even been alone when Javier had said it, but in a crowd at the student center after that week's dollar movie was letting out. Rick had started it by bringing up Princess Leia in the gold bikini. Kevin had cast his vote for Jessica Rabbit and her red dress. And Javier?
Javier had rolled his eyes and said, "Oh, please. Who hasn't jerked off to Marilyn Monroe and that white dress she wears in 'The Seven Year Itch'?"
"Fuck yes," Kevin said dreamily, his eyes going a little glassy.
Rick arched an eyebrow at Kevin. "Aren't you a straight up six on the Kinsey scale?"
"Yeah, Paula," Kevin said with an exaggerated eyeroll. "And I'm perpetuating the stereotypes by getting hot over the dress."
Which had been enough to reroute the conversation to what other stereotypes Kevin fell into, and Javier had gotten hopelessly distracted by the images that immediately flooded his mind's eye when Kevin brought up the T-65 X-wing fighter tramp stamp he'd always wanted.
So it had been nothing, a throwaway comment in a throwaway conversation. Javier had completely forgotten it until he walks into his dorm room over a month later and nearly falls flat on his face when his feet suddenly stop, but his upper body continues forward.
The sun is well on its way to being fully set and the shades are drawn, but enough colored light sneaks in through the cracks that Javier can make out the orange and red limned figure kneeling facing away from him on his bed. Broad, strong shoulders are dappled with burnished gold. The light shades down into darkness along the smooth, exposed line of a pale back, before dipping into inky shadows right at the base of the spine. The spot looks that much darker for the virginally white material draped around narrow hips. The material flares out into an almost perfect circle across Javier's deep blue bedspread.
Javier lets the door click closed behind him and the small noise makes the figure twist at the waist to look at him. Impossibly long, dark lashes tilt down to hide bright blue eyes, and Javier's fingers itch to reach out and feel if the flush on those cheeks are from makeup or the heat of a blush.
"Kev," he says, and his voice is all raw, jagged edges, rough enough to snag and tear the delicate fabric that's cut in a deep vee down Kevin's chest.
"Hey there, Javier." Kevin's head tips back as a visible shiver works through his frame. "I've got a little problem. 'It shakes me, it quakes me. It makes me feel goose-pimply all over.'" He shimmies his shoulders a little and licks his lower lip, leaving it wet and shiny and tempting. "Think you can help me with that, neighbor?"
