zilentdreamer requested an expansion on the werewolf/vampires Suits AU that I established as a possibility in my fic Anallagmatic.Notes: If you haven't read Anallagmatic, all you need to know is that Harvey's a vampire, Mike's a werewolf, and they are total boys in love.
Because there are certain things you just don't say to people, Harvey never comes straight out and tells Mike that he makes a less than impressive wolf.
To put it kindly.
The one time Mike had accidentally transformed at the office, he'd gotten completely tangled up in his clothes, nearly ended up choking himself on his tie, and tripped over his sleeves, toppling head over tail down the aisle between the associate cubicles. Donna had been laughing so hard that she'd barely been able to manage snapping a picture with her camera; it was a little blurry and part of his face was cut off, but after she photoshopped a Santa hat on what you could see of his head, it made for a pretty good Christmas card.
It's not just the lack of the usually expected lupine grace either. Even sitting still, so massive that his head is level with Harvey's elbow, he still doesn't cut an imposing figure. His fangs and claws should be more than enough to impress, but he's wiry and scruffy and looks more like a stray alley dog than a wolf. Mike maintains that it's not his fault that he got into so many fist fights as a kid and had a couple of his molars knocked out so that his tongue is constantly lolling out of the side of his mouth without his permission, but that doesn't make it any less ridiculous. After Jessica gets Donna's Christmas card, she stops by Harvey's office and comments that he reminds her of a mutt one of her cousins had growing up, the kind of dog you'd cross the street to avoid because it looks like it might pee on your shoes out of gratitude if you so much as look at it.
On one particularly overcast day, when Mike had managed to drag Harvey out to Central Park for a midday walk, they had gotten caught in a sudden downpour. Harvey had felt bedraggled and disheveled in his wet suit, but that had been nothing next to the way Mike looked. With his fur matted to his spar frame, he looked no more than half his usual size, and every few moments a full body shiver would go through him.
Harvey has an image that he has carefully cultivated and painstakingly maintained over the past several decades and there are certain facts he just has to face. Facts like how Mike just doesn't fit with his designer apartment, designer clothes, designer life. Shit, even the blood he drinks has an expensive, quality assuring label on it.
Nobody would ever give Mike a label.
But late at night, when he's sitting up in bed with a legal brief in one hand and the other petting idly over Mike's head where it's resting on his thigh, he finds that in this one aspect of his life he really can't even begin to care.
