Gah.

He really should only do half naked roles. You know, for the art.

Best. Idea. Ever.

Totally just for the art.

ETA: I should not be as turned on as I am by his ankles.

He *has* pretty ankles. And hands and everything.

His hands are kind of hypnotic, imo.

I finally understand that Victorian ankle thing.

Me too. *whimpers* And I can't help but notice that he has very biteable collarbones.

Not to mention those deliciously lean hips.

..um, that that they show in that picture much, I just watched 300 again and he is the best scene in that movie.

He's in 300?! With the itty bitty bottoms and the sweating and the 'manly bonding'? Finally a reason to rewatch that movie.

He was the long haired badass who cut that dude's hand off and blatantly wooed the twinky one.
HOW COULD YOU FORGET???

From: [identity profile] coffeebuddha.livejournal.com
I only ever saw the movie once back when I was in high school and had poor taste! OF COURSE HE WOOED THE TWINK. IT IS WHAT HE DOES.

From: [identity profile] dlasta.livejournal.com
Well, I remember watching Zardoz when I was in hs.:)

The twink wooing really is the best thing in the whole movie. I wish there was more of it.
Or at least more fic. *sadface*

*shrugs* I have a crappy memory for faces and was going through a mild obsession with Gerard Butler.

Mmm, twink wooing. &hearts

So cute, you think I remembered Fassbender from his *face*. :)

(The only movies I've liked Butler in were Reign of Fire and Rocknrolla. So, basically, I like it when he's vaguely gay. ish.)

XD What can I say? I'm still an innocent at heart. *halo*

(I'm a HUGE Phantom of the Opera fan and he was one of the few things I liked about the movie version. Considering how much I wanted to punch Emmy Rossum in the face after hearing her mangle the songs, I really needed something positive to focus on and he worked.)

From: [identity profile] dlasta.livejournal.com
He has very distinctive shoulder-waist-hips ratio? :P

(Hee, the reason I could not even try PotO was Rossum. yuck.:)

From: [identity profile] coffeebuddha.livejournal.com
Mmm, he does at that.

(I'd never seen her before and what little I'd heard about her going in sounded good. Lies. She completely destroyed Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again, went flat on Point of No Return, was never better than mediocre on the rest of the songs, AND they had to lower the title song because she couldn't hit the E. I mean, fuck, I can hit the high E. How hard would it have been to find an actual singer to play the role? Hate. Her. As a side note, Minnie Driver was HILARIOUS as Carlotta even if she didn't do her own singing.)

I hate when they do that. If a role needs something specific physically, why not use someone who can do it? (Scarlett Johanssen for Black Widow? Really?)
It's not like there's a lack of actresses in Hollywood.

Date: 2012-01-14 05:55 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] coffeebuddha.livejournal.com
Because when forced to pick between someone who is actually qualified to do the role and someone they think will bring in more money with their name alone, most studios will choose the second. Didn't Rossum get cast pretty much right after her success with The Day After Tomorrow? (Is that even what it's called? Idek, I never even had the desire to see it.)

From: [identity profile] dlasta.livejournal.com
Day After Tomorrow was hilariously bad. (As a Finn I find all these completely unrealistic cold weather scenarios criminally funny.)

Also, personally I find her an underwhelming actress. I'd get it if she had some charisma but there's nothing there. Why do they keep hiring her?

Date: 2012-01-14 06:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] coffeebuddha.livejournal.com
Oh no, it's cold! END OF THE WORLD! lol

She's not that great of an actress and she's not pretty enough to explain why she gets roles anyway. I'm guessing she knows the right people. =P

From: [identity profile] dlasta.livejournal.com
As end of the world scenarios go, it's not so bad. I just can't understand the lack of research in that movie. They don't even treat hypothermia right. Jesus.
(So, typical, they use most of the money on special effects and leave nothing for the script.)

She's so bland, she's annoying.

Date: 2012-01-14 06:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] coffeebuddha.livejournal.com
Wow. That's just...really bad.

I might even be able to forgive her for the blandness if it wasn't for the fact that I have a whole huge Thing about people who think they can sing who really can't. =P

From: [identity profile] dlasta.livejournal.com
Also, the movie is just crap altogether. Annoying characters, cliched script, everything. :/
Literally the only good thing that came from that movie is the fantastic fic challenge.

There's singing and then there's *singing*. Phantom is just not the forgiving kind of show. You can't wing it.

(I have mad love for talented 'amateur' singers. ..when they have something real to offer, not the Gwyneth Paltrow kind.)

Date: 2012-01-14 06:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] coffeebuddha.livejournal.com
Ugh. I'm so glad I didn't watch it then.
There was a fic challenge?

The thing with Phantom is that if they were doing an adaptation of the book, which was a satirical look at how many mediocre singers were becoming stars because they had the right patrons, then casting her would have made perfect sense. But they weren't doing an adaptation of the book, they were adapting the musical, which bypasses the satire altogether in favor of turning Christine into a brilliant soloist. They needed a strong singer to make it work and Rossum just doesn't cut it.

And Rossum has a career. Boo.

Which fic would that be?

The Joan of Arcadia one, 'Goodnight Moon' ...unfortunately, you need to have watched the show to get the full impact. Anyhoo, it's spot on perfect for the subject and for the original source. Chills, I tell ya. No lie.
