True, but if he has a long term girlfriend who he talks fondly/lovingly about, then chances are he isn't going to dump her and start acting like a homewrecker over a guy who he hasn't been really close to in years. In my head, there was definitely some behavior that would support Derek's suspicions, but it was more along the lines of how you'd act around an old crush who you're still fond of/attracted to, but don't have any actual romantic feelings for anymore.
Of course, I say that, but given half a chance, you know Ethan would probably be all over Spencer. ;)
