I'm too pissed off to think of something to add to this other than what I said over onallira_dream's post. I've said it a thousand times before and I'll probably say it a thousand times again: It is never anyone's responsibility to keep themselves from being raped. It's other people's responsibility to not rape them. Added to that, rape is almost never about sexual attraction so much as it is about control, and to say otherwise is just grossly ignorant.

allira_dream:- Four months ago, CBS reporter Lara Logan was separated from her camera crew while covering the revolution in Cairo, Egypt, and brutally raped by a crowd of men.
Two months ago, Logan bravely began speaking out in the media about her assault in the media to help end the stigma surrounding rape.
Two weeks ago, Dan Rottenberg, editor-in-chief of Philadelphia-based online arts magazine Broad Street Review, posted a letter blaming Logan in part for the sexual violence committed against her -- equating her gang rape with "getting laid."

Rottenberg's editor's letter, published on June 6th, is titled 'Male Sexual Abuse and Female Naivete,' six words that from the get-go suggest if women were to act more responsibly, men wouldn't commit "sex abuse," i.e rape. The letter is accompanied by a photo of Logan (above) on the red carpet, wearing a v-line neck dress and smiling for the cameras. The caption under the photo reads, "What message was the TV journalist Lara Logan sending here?"
Rottenberg goes on, "Earth to liberated women: when you display legs, thighs, or cleavage, some liberated men will see it as a sign you feel good about yourself and your sexuality. But most men will see it as a sign you want to get laid. Forewarned is forearmed."

Gay Marriage Meme
Jun. 28th, 2011 10:13 pmMy mom and I have had an ongoing debate about gay marriage going on since Sunday, because she believes that homosexual couples deserve all the same rights as a married couple, but that it shouldn't be called marriage and I believe that's a really stupid hair to split. There's also a whole lot of stuff about our faiths being injected into the whole thing, because we're both Christians, but our interpretations don't quite mesh up.
I'm not sure why I thought all of that was relevant to pointing out the really cool gay marriage comment fic meme going on thattheslashbunny PMed me about, but for some reason* I felt the need to share. Anyway, you guys should go check it out! I'm going to go through the comments tomorrow when I'm more coherent to see if there's anything I want to fill. :D
