1. I'm about 3000 words into writing a completely ridiculous Inception AU. WTF. How is this my life?

2. I spent most of my day curled up in bed with a migraine that just would not quit. I hate my body. Is it too late to get a refund or trade it in for a new one?

3. [livejournal.com profile] starscythe is full of awesome and win. She made me a photo manip of Kevin as a cowboy, because she knows how much I enjoy dressing him up like one in my fics.
Cut, because it's not exactly safe for work. )

4. It's been slow going on my charity fics and I feel absolutely horrible about that, but two of them are over the halfway mark, so hopefully my brain will stop rebelling and let me finish them. Right now, it grinds to a halt every time I try to work on them and I end up with a bunch of crap that I end up deleting in a pique of hatred and dissatisfaction. :(

5. I'm sorry again about how touch and go I've been about responding to comments and getting in touch with people lately. My grandmother, who's been seriously, hospitalization levels of sick the last year, has reached the point where we're basically just waiting for the end, and the stress of the whole situation is making my social anxiety sky rocket to the point where half the time the thought of answering a comment makes me feel like I'm about to have a panic attack.

6. I need a picture of something cute and fluffy now. Here, let's all have a picture of something cute and fluffy.

Since I'm officially down 30lbs since February and because it's freaking summer in Alabama, I decided to get a haircut to celebrate/not get sunstroke. Also, this is probably the closest I've been to my natural hair color in about four years. Oooooh yeeeeah.

Isn't it cute and kicky? I have no idea what it's going to look like once I've showered and my borderline incompetent hands have had a go at styling it, but for now it's all sorts of awesome. :D

HAVE YOU EVER HAD ONE OF THOSE NIGHTS WHERE YOU KNEW YOU NEEDED TO BE WORKING ON MULTIPLE COMMENT FICS, CHARITY FICS, AND BIG BANGS IN ADDITION TO SCOURING THE INTERNET LOOKING FOR JOB OPPORTUNITIES BECAUSE YOU'RE UNEMPLOYED AND YOUR SAVINGS FOR COLLEGE IS OFFICIALLY EMPTY, BUT INSTEAD YOU SPEND IT READING FIC ABOUT HOW GOD IS A DUCK, EATING CHOCOLATE, DAYDREAMING ABOUT A FIC THAT WILL NEVER BE WRITTEN BECAUSE THE OC IN YOUR HEAD IS THE QUEEN OF THE MARY SUES, FEELING TOO HERMITY AND ANTISOCIAL TO ANSWER COMMENTS, AND LISTENING TO CRACKY SONGS?

OR IS THAT JUST ME?

So, it's about 2:40 in the morning and my brain shows no signs of switching off anytime soon, despite my body's rather loud Opinions about that. But that's not the point. If there is a point. Is there a point?

There's a point.

So! I'm purposefully vague about exactly how old I am most of the time, though it's not exactly secret keeping so much as my internet paranoia kicking in. It's one of those things that you could probably figure out if you talk to me long enough or are kind of a stalker, but I'm Curious. Based on our interactions and my writing, how old do you, my beloved flist, think I am?

And for participating, have a picture of a baby squirrel. If you aren't answering the question, don't look. This squirrel is not for you. *frowns sternly*

That's right! I have awesome readers! How awesome? So awesome that because of a joking comment I made, one of them made me this!

So many thanks to the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] 1986s! I can't stress enough how much I love this picture. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to making cooing noises and petting my computer screen. ^.^

[livejournal.com profile] topetine made me a new icon.  Not only that, but she's offered to make individual Team Ethan/Team Derek icons with their pictures on them. Next time you wonder why I love her and not you, remember this and you'll have your answer. ^.^

Speaking of The Way You Lie, part three is officially up. Just in case you missed it. Took forever, but it's over a thousand words longer than either of the other parts, so maybe that'll help make up for it a little. Maybe? A teeny, tiny bit? Come on, guys, don't be that way. You know you want to read it and tell me how amazing I am.

I feel like I'm walking a very thin line with Ethan. I want him to be someone who's very loyal and protective of the select few he decides are worth it, but at the same time I want to avoid turning him into the cliched 'badass with a heart of gold'. Because 95% of the time, he is an ass who doesn't really give a shit about the people around him and will actually go out of his way to annoy/hurt them if they do something that pisses him off. On the one hand, I love writing him because he had so little screen time and I can basically write him any way I want and be right. On the other hand, he had so little screen time that I can basically write him any way I want and be right, so he's very nearly an original character, which is dangerous/scary territory in fanfiction.

In other news, it's FALL! Which means the season of eating has officially started. Hurray! I love food. I love food more than is healthy, which is why my hips are wide and my stomach is squishy. In light of the cooling weather, I decided to share a few of my favorite recipes-some old, some new-which make for perfect comfort food. These are pretty much the recipes as I have them written down-with the exception of the coconut soup, which I'll explain when I get there-but it's worth noting that I tend to use recipes more as a guide than anything else. I like to fiddle with them as I go, so the recipes below aren't exactly the same as what I'd do in my own kitchen.

Pumpkin Bread )

Apple Bread )

Coconut and Tofu Thai Soup )

Coffee Brownies )

I think that's it for today! Now off to practice for my conducting midterm. Hurray for classes I'm required to take even though I hope to never conduct a day of my professional life!

I have a tendency to sit and listen to the same song on repeat for hours when I like it. This can come in handy when I'm trying to learn new music, but usually it just means that I develop an unreasonable hatred for the once beloved song. Here are some songs I'll hate this time next week.

I've adored this music video ever since the first time I saw it if only because of Mika's interactions with the little girl. They just seem so at ease with each other and it looks like they're really having fun. I love that.

This is just sublime and it's completely live. Perfect example of why I'm so against lip singing in live performances. If you have to be digitalized to within an inch of your life before you sound halfway decent, then how the hell did you become a professional singer in the first place?(Rhetorical question. I know how, I just don't like the answer.)

Also, in case you missed it, the newest chapter of Odd Fish is up now. Woo! I finished something that should have been finished two weeks ago!

My Ethics teacher is kind of dreamy. He talks with his hands-which are nice like whoa-and tells bad punny jokes and has these amazing dimples. Thank you, Dr. Eye Candy, for giving me motivation to go to class.
